‘The Carol Burnett Show’ replaced their title with ‘The Queen Elizabeth Show” during Season 3, Episode 7. Carol appears as the Queen, wearing a crown and a large dress adorned with medals, holding a scepter.
Carol impersonates the Queen by speaking in a high-pitched British accent, “Thank you and welcome to our show. We have a jolly good one tonight, but first, let’s bump up the lights.”
Then, she interacts with the crowd, and one man raises his hand, and she asks if he needs to go to the “water closet,” making fun of the bathroom. He asks how she likes America, and she says she likes it very much and will revisit it in a few weeks.
The Queen says, “I’m going to New York this spring to address the United Nations and to do a lingerie commercial.” She laughs elegantly and says it will be to show to the fighting men across the sea.
She welcomes Prince Philip to the stage, played by Harvey Korman, and she asks what he’s been up to, and he responds, “Absolutely nothing.” Carol thanked him for taking time out of his busy schedule to be there.
She asks the audience if they have any questions for the Prince. One man asks, “Is the queen fun at home?” Carol interrupts, “That’s all the time we have for questions and answers.”
Harvey stands with a dumb smile on his face, not breaking character at all. Then, they walk off stage, and Carol pushes Harvey off because he doesn’t know what he is doing. Later in the skit, the cast puts the younger Queen in her own sitcom, and she encounters a Playguy magazine!
