Rick Harrison, the familiar face from Pawn Stars, has recently opened up about the heartbreaking loss of his 39-year-old son, Adam. In a devastating turn of events, Adam passed away due to a suspected fentanyl overdose. Rick, in an interview with Fox News Digital, expressed his grief and emphasized the urgent need for greater awareness of the fentanyl crisis in the country.
The news of Adam’s untimely passing first came to light through TMZ, and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department has initiated an investigation to uncover more information. The Harrison family spokesperson, Laura Herlovich, issued a statement conveying the family’s deep sadness and requesting privacy as they mourn the loss.
The Las Vegas coroner confirmed Rick Harrison’s previous announcement that his son died of a fentanyl overdose. In a statement shared to TMZ via his rep, Harrison blamed the border crisis.
“Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose. The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”
Although Adam did not appear on Pawn Stars, he was an integral part of the family’s business, Gold & Silver Pawn, before the show premiered in 2009. Rick took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to his son, posting a photo of them smiling together at a bar, accompanied by a heartfelt caption that read, “You will always be in my heart! I love you, Adam.”
The increasing number of fentanyl-related overdose deaths is alarming. According to CDC statistics, there has been a staggering 56.6% rise in such deaths from January 2020 to 2021. During this difficult time, our thoughts and condolences go out to the Harrison family.
